Details Review

Design and build:

The Klipsch R-15PM has an MDF cabinet and you need to place it on speaker stand or tabletop. It uses cross-bracing to minimize any vibration and resonance. We love to show off the copper spun woofers instead of covering the drivers with the included magnetic grille. If you have pets or kids at home, you should use it to protect the drivers.

Performance:

Klipsch R-15PM is a turntable ready speaker that does not need any amplifier or receiver. This active speaker has 1” tweeter and 5.25” woofer drivers. The woofer has the Klipsch Signature copper spun woofer that is known for accurate and deep lows. Trebles are detailed and rich in nature. Due to 90x90 Tractrix horn, the speakers have wide soundstage.

It has a port on the back side of the cabinet that boosts the bass further. Increase the volume and enjoy undistorted sound with any type of content.

Connectivity and control:

The Klipsch RP-15PM has a wide range of connectivity options. Use the USB input to play files from your PC or laptop. Then with the optical digital input, you can connect TV, Blu-ray player, etc. It comes with a Phono switch which you can use to switch between stereo RCA input or phono in. Other available connection options are aux input and sub out port.

While connecting the subwoofer to this port, make sure the sub has low pass crossover. It is not mandatory to connect a Klipsch subwoofer, there are other popular brands like SVS. In case you do not prefer wired connectivity, you can go wireless via the Bluetooth connection. The back panel also has a volume knob that acts as a manual control.

You can sit back and control the speaker with the included remote control. It has basic options including volume up/down, source selection, play/pause, and previous/next track.

Use case:

Klipsch R-15PM is suitable for compact spaces. We placed them in small sized rooms and enjoyed room filling audio. This speaker can handle music quite well. It ensures the quality remains accurate no matter the type of audio source. That does not mean you cannot enjoy movies. They will be definitely an improvement over TV speakers.

Cost:

The Klipsch R-15PM is one of the best powered bookshelf speakers under $250. They are ideal for users with a tight budget. Since they have built-in amplifier, you do not have to spend extra bucks after amplifier or receiver. Instead, you can buy a subwoofer and enjoy punchier bass.

FAQ:

Who is Klipsch R-15PM speaker best for?

Users who prefer neat and clean setup and have limited space will love the Klipsch R-15PM powered monitors. It comes with multiple ports to connect audio devices like PC, TV, CD or Blu-ray players, turntables, etc. Streaming music wirelessly is also another option.

What is the best alternative to a Klipsch R-15PM bookshelf speaker?

At a slightly higher cost, check the Kanto YU6MW powered bookshelf speaker. Comparing Klipsch vs Kanto, the Klipsch is a bit bright but not fatiguing or harsh.
