Edifier P12 is an affordable pair of speakers that is suitable for compact spaces. Once the right amplifier or receiver is connected, these speakers will deliver pure and warm sound. Bass is average so you can add a subwoofer if you like. Place the speakers in compact spaces so that they can play with full potential. They can go loud and reveal the bass even if it is not room shaking.

Our Verdict

The P12 from Edifier are a set of powerful speakers. Despite their small size, they sound quite rich and accurate. They focus on minimizing any unwanted distortion while delivering deep bass. That said, they are not high-end speakers and if you want to scrutinize you might find issues. This decent sounding speaker is for general users who want to have good sound in small spaces. Details Review

Design and build:

Edifier P12 Passive Bookshelf Speaker is a small and compact speaker. It has wooden MDF body that minimizes any vibration or resonance. We love the wooden color that blends in quite well in any room. The speakers sit on rubber feet that helps to isolate them from the surface

Performance:

The Edifier P12 has a 0.75” tweeter silk dome tweeter and a 4” woofer driver. It has rich and natural highs. Low ends are decent, clean but average. Since it is a small speaker with a small woofer driver, you should not expect much. The bass is still present, and the sound is much better compared to PC speakers and built-in TV speakers.

It uses good quality crossover design so that the sound is improved. Each speaker has bass reflex port that enhances the sound. Overall, the sound quality is good and satisfying but do not expect outstanding performance from these compact speakers.

Use case:

We played several types of music tracks through these speakers. The speaker sounds quite musical allowing us to enjoy what we hear. Male and female vocals along with instrumental sounds are rich and decent but you should not expect optimum accuracy. As long as you are ready to overlook minor flaws, you will be more than satisfied with these speakers.

Connectivity and placement:

Place the speaker on stands and make sure they are at ear level of the user. They have built-in wall mount brackets so hanging them on walls is much easier. This will give your room a clean look without taking up any space. Due to their size, they are best as PC speakers. They will fit well on desktop tables or office desks.

While placing them, the distance between speakers should be shorter than the distance between speaker and listening spot. The speaker comes with two 6’ speaker cables so connecting to a suitable amplifier is easy as breeze. Some examples of well-known amplifiers are Sony, Fosi Audio, Denon, Yamaha, etc. Make sure to match positive to positive and negative to negative. Once amplifier connection is complete, you can connect other devices like turntables.

Cost:

Edifier P12 is one of the best passive bookshelf speakers under $100. It is a cheap speaker so you can spend after an amplifier or receiver easily.

FAQ:

Will Edifier P12 bookshelf speakers work with Alexa?

Since the P12 speakers from Edifier are passive, they will rely on the receiver you choose. If the receiver works with Alexa, then the speakers will. Control options will also depend on the receiver.

Who is Edifier P12 Passive bookshelf speaker best for?

The Edifier P12 is best for users with a very low budget. They are great for students or users who live in small apartments and do not want to annoy their neighbors. It gives you the option of wall mounting which is a plus point for limited spaces.
