How to Pair JBL Speakers Together
For your house party, you might need to link some of your Bluetooth speakers together to make a fun sound system with more bass. All JBL speakers are much better.
You can link two or more JBL speakers together with Bluetooth. Connecting more than one JBL speaker with Bluetooth is much easier, and more than 100 JBL speakers can be linked. If you want a speaker with a lot of bass, JBL is an excellent choice.
If you want to connect 100 JBL speakers, make sure they all have "JBL Connect+" and "JBL Partyboost" instead of "JBL Connect."
Which speakers can I connect?
Portable speakers with Connect+ can connect to each other, but PartyBoost speakers can't. Connect and Partyboost, the most recent version, are exactly the same.

Steps to Connect JBL speakers together
Check whether the speakers are compatible
No matter how many times you try to pair, it won't work. If your JBL speakers don't work with each other, they won't connect. So, before you try to pair them, make sure they are the same kind. You can look at the rule of the thumb above. Or look at the button on your speakers that says "connect."
The button that looks like a sand timer is the one to used to connect.
Here's how to tell the difference between them:
- PlayBoost is written in the shape of a round hourglass.
- A straight-edged hourglass: JBL connect.
- A straight-edged hourglass with a plus (+) sign: JBL connect plus.
Is the connect button symbol on your JBL speakers the same? If the answer is yes, then they are the same kind. This means that you can put them together to make music. If this is the case, go to the next step. But if you don't have compatible JBL speakers, make sure to get them before going further.

Turn ON all the speakers
Next, check to see if your speakers are on. To do this, press and hold the speaker's power button. Since each of your JBL speakers is treated like a separate device, you have to turn them on one at a time.
How would you figure out if the speaker is already on? If the LED light behind the power button turns blue, it is already turned on. Or, in some models, white. Also, when you turn it on, you should hear a short tune. That means the person is ready to be used.
Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device
As the third step, turn on Bluetooth on your phone. You can use your laptop, smartphone, or tablet as your source. Or even your PC if it has a Bluetooth feature.
Here's how to make most devices work with Bluetooth:
- Open your device.
- Click on settings.
- Click on "Bluetooth."
- Then, turn on Bluetooth by turning the switch ON.
Is this the first time you've paired your phone or tablet with your JBL speakers? Then check the box next to "Make my device findable" or something similar.
This makes it easy for your JBL speakers to find your device and connect to it.
Or if a voice assistant like Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri works with your phone.
You can also use voice commands to turn on Bluetooth.
Just say something like "Hey, Google! "Start up Bluetooth." After you say it, your voice assistant should confirm that you did it. And the Bluetooth icon should show up on the top of your device.
Connect all the speakers via Bluetooth
Here is where the process of connecting officially starts. After turning on Bluetooth on your device, connect each JBL speaker one at a time to it.
Here's what you need to do:
- Find the icon for Bluetooth on the speaker.
- Press it and keep it pressed for about 3 seconds. Or until you hear a tune.
- Go to the settings for Bluetooth on your device.
- Find your JBL speaker on the list of "Available Devices."
- To connect, tap it once.
- Steps 1–5 should be done again for each speaker.
If the Bluetooth button on your JBL speaker is blinking, it is ready to connect to your phone. You might not be able to connect all of my JBL speakers to my phone, though. If that's the case, one of the following is true:
- The speaker is linked to something else.
- Phone has connected to as many Bluetooth devices as it can.
Most Android and iOS phones can connect to up to seven Bluetooth devices at once.
Use an app like AmpMe to connect and over 7 JBL speakers to your device. This app makes it easy to link your JBL speakers to your phone.
Play any music on the mobile device
Play some music once all your JBL speakers have been connected to your device. Open any music app on your phone or tablet, like Spotify or Apple Music, and play any song you want. When you play a song, sound should come out of one of the attached speakers. If not, try turning up the volume on both your phone and your JBL speakers.
Is this still the case? Then, unplug and plug your speakers back into your device. By doing this, you can fix any possible connection problems.
Press the “Connect” button on the playing speaker
Then, pick up the JBL speaker that is playing sound. Then, press the button that says "connect" on it. Find the icon that looks like a sand timer and press it once. When you do this, your main speaker will be ready to pair with other JBL speakers. When you press it, a short tune should play.
Press the “Connect” button on the other speakers
And now, how to connect your JBL speakers. One by one, press the connect button on each speaker. If you don't want to have trouble connecting, make sure to finish pairing one speaker first. Before putting the rest of them together.
How would you tell if my speaker is already hooked up? When it starts playing sound, it's successfully connected to the main speaker. Up to 30 seconds can pass before a speaker can start to play sound.
Remember that the sound from your speakers should be in sync. If not, you'll have to start the process of connecting again. You can check how your speakers are connected by downloading the JBL Portable app for Android or iOS.
You can also change the settings for your speaker here. And choose "Party" or "Stereo" as the audio mode for your speakers.
Final Thoughts
When at least 2 different JBL speakers are connected together, the sound could be louder and have more bass. Connecting several JBL speakers as well as having a lot of fun is the best way to have a big party outside.
Instead of installing a home audio system, acquire two or more JBL speakers if you like music and spent a lot of time outside the house. It sounds about the same as a home theater with just two JBL speakers. I hope you figured out how to connect multiple JBL speakers. This post should make it easy for you to find a good match.
